Located in the heart of Pleasanton, our private club offers a casual, park-like setting that is ideal for spending quality time with family and friends. With an expansive grass area for picnicking or working on a tan, barbeque facilities, a snack bar, and guarded hours by certified lifeguards, PVC provides an unmatched family summer experience!
A Message from the PVC Board Regarding COVID-19
The PVC board hopes that you are faring safe and well during this time. We truly miss seeing everyone at the club. As you may know, PVC is currently closed. We are following orders from the State as well as Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD). However, the board continues to monitor the situation, and we are in communication with the ACPHD.
In the next coming weeks, we anticipate some specific guidance on when and in what manner we can consider opening the club. We will be looking to the ACPHD and the State for direction on when and how the club may be operated this summer and into the fall of 2020. Please note that if we are able to open, it will most likely be in a limited capacity and in a phased approach. When we reopen, operations of the club will be different in terms of health and safety, and how we staff and operate the club moving forward.
As to the financial state of the club, we are working with our bank for a loan deferment. We were also awarded a Payroll Protection Program loan in order to keep the minimum operations of the club going. As you may be aware, our club is only funded by membership fees. Many other clubs in the area operate under HOAs. Thus, they have funds to operate regardless of their closure state. Unfortunately, we here at PVC do not have that option. We have the challenge to be both good stewards of membership funds and ensure that your health and safety are held in very high regard if and when we can open.
Most likely operations this summer may be a phased limited opening approach. The Valley Swim League (VSL) season has been cancelled for this summer. In its place we are in the process of submitting for review by the health department a plan to offer summer conditioning swim camps for the youth of the swim team. If this occurs, it would only be under strict hygiene controls, and at a greatly reduced capacity as mandated by the current shelter in place order. This plan would follow the disinfection and social distancing guidance put forth by the CDC and with approval by the ACDH.
As for the general membership, the board is also considering the possibility of potentially offering scheduled lap swim times, if it can be implemented in a way to meet state and ACPHD guidelines. We are still not certain about operations for general use and open recreational swim, at this point we do not have a clear answer or timeline as to whether or not this will happen this season. The board has discussed at length a number of possible scenarios, and how these could be implemented. Cost to do so is also being considered as some of these scenarios involve a significant amount of resources.
As for your 2020 season membership dues, since we do not know if or in what capacity the club will open this summer, we have made that decision that normal membership dues are not required this year. For those of you that have already paid, we will either consider a refund for this year, or you can apply that paid amount to next year. The board is still discussing what fees might be charged this season if we are able to offer limited use.
We at the board appreciate your patience and dedication to the club. If you would like to communicate questions to the board, please feel to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
